A resume tells someone what you have done. A portfolio shows them what you can do.
For creative professionals, that difference is extremely important. A client hiring a 3D artist, motion designer, illustrator or video editor wants to see the quality of the actual work.
Quality over quantity
A portfolio does not need hundreds of projects. A smaller collection of strong, relevant work can communicate expertise more effectively.
Show the problem and the solution
Whenever possible, explain what the client needed, what challenge existed and how you solved it.
Keep improving
Your portfolio should evolve with your career. Remove weaker work and replace it with projects that represent your current level.
